A Cuban plantation owner, imprisoned for 20 years, is finally released in 1980 and allowed to join the boat migration to Florida, where he yearns to see his wife and daughter. Circumstances team him up with a fiery young woman, while his wife--who thinks he didn't make the last boat--finally lets herself fall in love with a new man.
